Sooooo…It’s that time again, isn’t it?
Hello everyone! So, Myara Story 1.5 is right at the corner. Every game systems, bosses, patterns and spell-cards has been completed and works correctly. And unlike Myara Story 1, REPLAYS WORK!!! I know it seems crazy, and it is, but it works!!!
So what now? This is the first devlog I’m making about this game. I explained on the twitter account of Aneha’s Ruby Crown that I don’t want to say things that might not be in the final game. But now that everything is done, I won’t add anything more, so I can start to talk about the game more seriously.
Today, the game is complete, every main things are done, bosses, patterns, the 3 playable characters, game systems, everything you name it. So, why can’t I release the game today or even in the next week ? You might have taken the hint already, but I didn’t mention anything about music. And for a good reason: The game has 3 playable characters, every of these characters has a unique route with unique bosses, the game has 5 stages, the first and last bosses are the same for every route with spoiler stuff, so that’s 13 tracks for all bosses, +5 for stages, so 18, and misc stuff like the menu and endings, we are at 21 tracks. Music takes a long time to make, and it’s a little bit my fault that I must wait to release the game, since I asked plug-c if he’d like to help me with the game’s music a little bit late in developpment. Currently I need 3 more tracks and I’ll have all of them.
So, music is the main reason of why I must wait before releasing the game, and thus can’t give a precise release date or even window, but there is another reason: Because of the nature of the game and the gameplay, I must playtest and fix a lot more bugs than what I did with Myara 1, the game has much more content and many new features than what was in the first game. This game was planned as being big, but I didn’t imagine it would grow this much. I started the development in very late January, and every major stuff was done by May 1st. I know there is a lot of bugs still in the game to this day and I’ll do my very best to fix them, but maybe you saw it in the main page of the game, there’s a “Known Bugs” section where I put a bug that I can’t reproduce, understand nor even fix, so for the time being, I plan on letting it go with the game’s release, I really tried everything to fix this bug, but I really can’t understand why it’s doing it, it’s not even consistent. My best guess is that it’s taking more time to fill a single variable than other times, so another couroutine can’t read it and store it in the replay’s file, so if that’s the case, I can’t even do anything at all to fix this bug.
So, with all this being said, I can at least give a pretty vague release window. I plan to release the game between May 18 and July 22. This window release is subject to change and is not final. I really hope I’ll be able to make it in time though.
